WENWEN

Created by the team behind EightEightSix, Wenwen brings the comfort and flavors of taiwanese household to Greenpoint, Brooklyn, New York. The two level space is filled with vintage signs, original posters, night market toys and other rare finds that transfer you back to Taiwan.

Logo design @wenwenbk inspired by vintage Taiwanese street and disco club signs. Beautiful sign hand painted by @mattyhands_.

Menu cover collages featuring pieces from 365風俗考察II “Taiwanese social custom expedition 365 days calendars” by Taiwanhaose. Put together by Overice and Wenwen’s friends and family. Each menu is unique and has own story to tell.

We created two full frame illustrations for the menu. Drink menu features the signature cocktail Shyboy at wenwen with 圓山大飯店, the Grand Hotel Taipei in the backdrop surrounded by the mountain framed with plum blossom that represents Taiwan. Food drawing is inspired by grandma’s dinner table. Depicting “homesickness”, family get-togethers around the table and enjoy good times. Dishes filled up the table that covered by a gingham tablecloth that are seen in a lot of Asian households.

We added layers of vintage treatments to the digital artwork and printed on thick textured paper that gives it an old newspaper finishing.
